Asset

Assets are special resources you can gain access to. Anything that you might find, win, or lose can be an asset. The most common assets are items of equipment, but intangibles like friendships, social status, or special knowledge can count. You have a set number of starting assets depending on your power level. Advancement or abilities can unlock additional assets. Assets come in tiers from 0 to 3. You always start with 2 tier 0 assets, plus additional assets based on your band power level. If you gain a slot for an asset you gain the asset during your next respite. During play you can acquire any number of assets of any tier. You may also lose assets during play. An asset specifically provided by an ability or evolution is replaced during your next respite if lost.

Reputation

A rep is attached to your name and impression, so you do not gain the benefit if disguised.

Favors and Grudges

These assets can be earned or lost through your actions and behavior. Losing a favor usually involves it returned through danger, sacrifice, or the gift of an equal asset (key information may count) from the person or group who owes the favor. A grudge is the opposite, and can counter or be countered by a favor. You can lose a grudge if the person or group would earn an equal favor. You lose a grudge if you accept the target as a friend or lover, and may lose it just by failing to take an opportunity to harm the target. Note that a grudge can be against one target or a group of any size, but the larger the group the more likely you are to meet a member that will make it difficult to keep the grudge.

Coin

Coin is used for buying, selling, and trading. In Shiyan, currency is usually exchanged in copper coins, or sometimes strings of coins or small silver ingots. Treasure is the equivalent of many silver or gold ingots, and often takes the form of paper notes backed up by the issuer's reputation. Coin can be used to acquire assets (especially Equipment) and services during play.

Legacy

A legacy can be eliminated by destroying the family or the asset which is handed down through each generation. Legacies are especially important in Saga campaigns, and are usually gained when a character becomes august or supreme and has a signature asset that could be bestowed to family or an equivalent follower.

Asset Tier Keywords
Legacy 3 Use: Pick any asset you own. Future relatives start play with that asset.

Followers

Companions are single personalities that you play in addition to your character. Troops come in groups of 5 statistically identical denizens. Followers are lost if they are killed or mistreated. You control any followers normally, but if they gain markers they revert to referee control unless you use a snap. Followers use your reflex. Note that momentum and interference are by player, so if a follower generates one or the other the affects apply to the player's next roll, regardless of which character is checking.
