You spot clues and cues easily. Normally when you search for clues you find any present without a check. If a clue is inaccessible you still learn that a clue may be there, and possible hiding places. Once you find a clue or cue you may roll against your study score. If you succeed you gain the description and either the pointer or whether the clue is a fraud (your choice). If you fail you gain the description but not the pointer or whether it is a fraud. Once the attempt is made, it requires a project for you or anyone else to try the check again.

Default Mastery Options

  • Deduce - Abductive Genius: You may spend 1 focus to learn the true resolution of a mystery you name, including specifics on how the events occurred. This won't actually prove the solution, but may help you better direct your efforts.
    • Criminal Catalog: When you individual with the wanted fault (and an undisguised impression) you know that individual's name and the list of crimes he or she is wanted for.
    • Inductive Genius: You need one fewer pointer than usual to solve a mystery.
    • Lie Detector: When someone makes a statement you can check it for falsehoods. You roll a contest between your scholarship and the opponent's appearance, and you gain a bonus. If you win you can determine which parts of a statement are true, false, or purposefully ambiguous.

Other Mastery Options

    • Infallible Logic: When you solve a mystery you may include incorrect pointers, so long as you have enough correct pointers it counts as a success.
    • Expert Torturer: You may use a complication to torture a captured individual for information. The target is the individual's grit, and the consequence for failure margin is hits to the individual. If you gain interference your session is interrupted for a day. If you succeed the referee must give you clear truthful answers about anything the individual knows.
