Your applied education and professional training. Controlled by sense.
- Inspect. Once you own a clue you may inspect it. You may check against your study score immediately and without cooperation without any time cost at all, or you may use a project to gain a bonus (+2) and accept cooperation normally. If the check succeeds you learn the pointer and whether the clue is a fraud. If the check fails you lose possession of the clue. It is not destroyed, but it falls into the hands of rivals, opponents, authorities, informants, or nobody at all.
- Knowledge: Any knowledge that you the player have, your character also has, or at least has instincts that amount to the same thing. However your character may know something that you don't. When you first encounter something you may ask for a check against your study score to see if you have already learned about it. If the check succeeds the referee may fill you in on background information, related legends, or even game statistics that your character has learned. Obscure knowledge gives a penalty (-2) to this check. If you fail, you may not check on the same topic again without using study to research it.
- Research. It requires a project to attempt research, and a location with the library keyword. The information the referee provides on a successful check against your study score is limited to what is available from your research books. If the books have nothing relevant a successful check reveals this as well. You may retry research, but once you have achieved success you won't gain any new knowledge unless the books are updated or you try a different library.
- Treat. You can use a project to cooperate with a resting and injured individual's strength check to recover.
- Understand. When you encounter cryptic texts or unknown languages you may check against your study score to decipher meaning. The time required varies based on just how information you are trying to understand. Your failure margin is the number of clues, prompts, or helpers you need before you are allowed to try again.
