A Magic Wheel sorcerer...

As a sorcerer.

  • x. Magician Diviner.
  • x. Exorcist.
  • x. Performer.

What kind of sorcerer are you?

The Sublime Path Rover is a follower of Sublime Path...and not much else. Rovers are drawn to spiritual imbalance like moths to a flame. Many instinctively walk Weyline paths or turn up just as monstrous outbreaks occur. Some consider them ill-omens because of this link, but many more recognize that the rover is a positive force, drawn by the same conditions that drew the monsters.

  • Charlatan
  • Pilgrim
  • Sorcerer

A charlatan knows all the right tricks to be a proper exorcist, but just can't be bothered. Short term con games with real or simulated ghosts allow the charlatan to move in and clean things up...for a small fee.

A pilgrim is a rover on a mission. Likely that mission is to walk until they find exactly the right place to find a new shrine. Others bounce from shrine to shrine along a massive circuit, righting wrongs they encounter along the way.

Sorcerers wander mostly because they aren't welcome in most places for long. They tend to study forbidden arts, and find gaining knowledge of the path more important than playing nicely with social mores. And admittedly sometimes they inadvertently create horrible abominations. But at least they solve any problems created before they move on.

The Sublime Path Exorcist is an ascetic, a follower of the Sublime Path. They are often seen as mad by more reserved Dharmic priests. They are often drawn to supernatural imbalance, and use the force of their faith, martial training, and magic to return the spirits of the red world back to where they belong. Most exorcists are respected members of small communities, providing valuable mortuary services and mystical advice.

  • Undertaker
  • Diviner
  • Priest

Diviners understand the flow of Wey across the land, and are often consulted before new structures are built. Diviners are also drawn into matchmaking and blessing journeys or business ventures.

Priests run the shrines and temples that are the life blood of the Sublime Path. Shrines are often built near dangerous river crossings, hazardous mountain passes, and other places where the more unruly spirits of nature need to be mollified. The priest in charge must be watchful for threats from either side, as too much encroachment by villagers seeking to tame nature can cause unfortunate backlash.

The undertaker is a vital and trusted member of society. In a world where the dead don't always stay dead, it is a great comfort to have someone who knows the right way to bury someone so they will be at peace. Ancestors who weren't properly cared for tend to take out their wrath on the living descendants, and the undertaker is who those descendants turn to to make things right. Undertakers are often caretakers of the more troublesome trapped spirits as well.
