There are eight facets that represent different areas a character may have to check against. Each facet is rated on a scale from 1 to 5:
- 1: Terrible
- 2: Competent
- 3: Accomplished
- 4: Excellent
- 5: Superior
Pick 1 at 3, Pick 1 at 1, the rest are 2.
The facets for Wilderness of Blades are:
- Focus: (Was Energy or Harmony) Soul, life-force, meditation, and raw power.
- Fortune: Luck, Rank, Resources, and Wealth
- Lightness: (was Agility) Speed, balance,and control.
- Manner: Courtesy, confidence, public speaking. (Replaces Communication)(Replaces Charm, Appearance)
- Mischief: (was Guile) Stealth and trickery, and Subterfuge.
- Sense: Perception, intelligence, and critical thinking. Learning: Rituals, writing, and research, alchemy, healing, and poisons. (Replaces Machinery, Medicine, Sorcery, and Scholarship)
- Strength: Endurance, hardiness, and might.
- Technique: (Swordplay Distinction) Fighting, weapons, and military strategy. (Replaces Combat)
Focus/Technique, Fortune/Sense, Lightness/Strength, Manner/Mischief
Becomes its own thing replacing Focus and states
- Will: Confidence, determination, and Spirit.
- Harmony: Survival, animals, and Wilderness.
