You build new items. You will need materials and a special location called a forge. Building is a complication and the target is equal to the amount of material you need: 10 for a regular item, 20 for a bulky item, and 25 per area of size if larger. The consequence for a failed check is wasted material.

  • Make: You can build any tier 1 item on the equipment list, and you start with an extra item or mod that you could build.

  • Evolutions
    • Creative Inventor: You can create new items. You propose the statistics, price, materials, and keywords for the item and then check to build it. Once completed the referee informs you if the item can work, and if so you have the item with the prototype keyword. If not you may alter your proposal and try again.
    • Improvised Tools: You may create items without a forge and ignore the penalty for not having tools.
    • Reverse Meddler: Once you have an item you may "build" it in reverse. This destroys the item and its materials. Once finished you make a sense check, and if you succeed you may build that item from then on.
    • Roadcraft Mechanic: You may build and mod items of any tier with the roadcraft keyword.
    • Seacraft Wright: You may build and mod items of any tier with the seacraft keyword.
    • Skycraft Engineer: You may build and mod items of any tier with the skycraft keyword.
    • Uncanny Smith: You may build or mod items of any tier with the magic keyword.
    • Fire Fighter: You may use an action to douse fire within your reach. Check operate and eliminate 1 burn if you succeed, plus extra burn equal to your success margin. You have the inflammable keyword.
    • Frame Patcher: If you are in the engineer position your operate may cooperate with a vehicle's destruction check. If the vehicle would suffer a marker, you can suffer it instead.
    • Scrap Bender: You ignore the penalty for not being able to build an item you are trying to fix, and can use a project to recover half the materials or a mod from a destroyed item.
    • Corrective Thump: You may spend 1 focus to eliminate a damaged state from an item.
